Ngubane walks after Gupta connection exposed

Die Vryburger

In what is seen as an acknowledgment of guilt, the chairman of Eskom’s board, Dr. Ben Ngubane, resigned.

In the e-mails that reveal the light of the Gupta family’s tentacles on prominent persons, Ngubane has also been involved. He apparently tried to benefit through a business partner of the Guptas, Salim Essa, to help him obtain an oil concession in the Central African Republic.

Apparently, Ngubane also exerted pressure on former mineral Minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi to help the Guptas to take over the Optimum Coal Mine in 2016.

His midnight resignation leaves the suspicion that the e-mails in which he is involved are real and he decided to retreat. It may, therefore, imply that the other e-mails are just as accurate as those in which Ngubane is involved.

Zethembe Khoza has in the meantime been appointed by Minister Lynn Brown as acting chairman of Eskom.
