Outa, “Organization Undoing Tax Abuse” congratulated the National Energy Regulator (Nersa) on the rejection of Eskom’s request for increased rates.
According to Outa, weak productivity, mismanagement, expensive contracts, and corruption within Eskom is responsible for the condition of the entity.
The Denton’s report on Eskom has recently been released; it is damning and shows several flaws in the way contracts are awarded for the supply of diesel and coal. It also states the excessive remuneration paid to top management and the fact that it could prevent the expensive payment for coal, which rates have risen excessively.
Outa is requesting that a commission of inquiry be launched to check Eskom’s business and would reveal that stealing, organized crime, and fraud is endemic within the institution.
