Sam Vukela, acting director general of public works, was involved in the controversial police lease agreement of almost R500 million. It was found that he was negligent by approving the contract and was fired in 2013.
Now he has won the case by arbitration and has been reinstated with an R2 million payout for the time he was “unemployed.”
Vukela was also involved in the Nkandla security upgrade debacle but was not prosecuted.
