Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, who has been suspended for two years, has lost her application for reappointment in the appeal court.

She will therefore be suspended until a board of inquiry determines whether she is guilty of gross misconduct.

Ngobeni’s behavior has been shrouded in allegations based on her relationship with the Durban businessman, Thoshan Panday. Panday is suspected of fraud in a multimillion rand SAPD tender in 2010 and Ngobeni allegedly interfered in the investigations around Panday’s affairs.

Meanwhile, she received full salary while she did nothing.
