Police at Kabokweni are investigating a case of murder with an additional charge of rape and inquest after the discovery of two bodies, one of a female identified as Sinenhlahla Nkosi (16) and a male identified as Dumiso Mhlongo (25).

They were each identified by their respective families.

The bodies were sadly discovered inside an old building (Khumbula old social club) at Kabokweni during the evening of Monday, 27 March 2023 around 18:00.

According to information, the whereabouts of the two who are considered distant relatives became a mystery after they were last seen on Saturday, 25 March 2023. Nkosi’s aunt left them to attend a funeral earlier that day. She became worried when she returned home only to find that her niece was not home.

She then looked for her but without any success and she reported the matter to the police the next day, Sunday 26 March 2023. The male partner of the aunt is said to be related to Mhlongo and he too left for work earlier that Saturday but was amazed when he got home to learn about the disappearance of the two.

Shockingly, on that dreadful Monday 27 March 2023 the aunt was informed by some members of the community about two bodies that were discovered at the said building.

She went there only to get a shock of her life as the two lifeless bodies, including that of her niece were found hanging.

Police as well as the paramedics were eventually notified about the incident. Upon arrival the two young stars were unfortunately certified dead by the medical personnel at the scene.

Police opened a case with a charge of murder, rape and an inquest after discovering a foul play on the female victim’s body. The matter is still under investigation and a team of investigators have been assembled to probe this horrific incident.

Preliminary investigation has since revealed that Mhlongo had visited the relatives at Kabokweni. It is said that he was in sought of employment opportunities however the police are working around the clock, using all resources available at their disposal to establish circumstances surrounding this terrible incident.
