Woman assaulted and tied up in Standerton farm attack

Emily Schoeman grabbed by two suspects during a farm attack in Standerton, Mpumalanga, this morning February 16, around 2H00.

The two suspects gained access to the house by breaking through the security gate at the back of the home.

Emily was walking with her dog, who was calm and upon returning to her house from the chicken coops, was met by the two suspects, when she entered the house. Immediately the suspects assaulted her and demanded the keys to the safe.

The suspects fled with her vehicle and a 9mm pistol.

Emily immediately raised the alarm and the farming community together with the police responded. A search for the vehicle and suspects began in earnest. The abandoned vehicle was found at the entrance to an informal settlement. Apparently, shots were fired but no reports of injuries are confirmed.

An investigation is ongoing and the suspects are still at large.
