Witbank hijacking, four suspects arrested

Four suspects aged between 22 and 25, were arrested and are due to appear before the Mbibane Magistrate’s Court at Vaalbank tomorrow, 29 May 2018, after they were found in possession of a hijacked vehicle and suspected stolen property.

The arrest of the suspects emanated from swift action taken by police in conjunction with Tracker, after the suspects were found driving the hijacked vehicle yesterday at Marapyane, near Mmametlhake.

A short probe by the team revealed that the vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Golf 5 had been hijacked at Witbank earlier. They further seized 13 cellphones and two gas pistols.

Profiling of the suspects is underway to determine their involvement in other crimes.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma applauded the joint effort by the police and Tracker which led to the swift arrest of the suspects.
