The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for three suspects who committed a business robbery at a Mall in Vosman near Witbank on Friday, 11 June 2020.

Reports indicate that a 34-year-old man, working as a technician was busy fixing an ATM machine whilst under the watchful eye of a security guard who was armed at the time. The technician then went to fetch something from his vehicle and as soon as he opened the door, three armed men pounced on both men, the security guard as well as the technician.

The trio then robbed the victims of their cellphones as well as the technician’s vehicle keys and the security officer’s official pistol. The suspects proceeded to one of the shops where they robbed tellers of undisclosed amount of cash.

They then fired a shot before abandoning the scene with the technician’s white NP200 bakkie. However, the bakkie was later recovered in Lynnville location.

Police were notified about the incident and they attended to the scene where a case of business robbery was opened. No arrests have been made as yet.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has called for the immediate arrest of the suspects as well as the recovery of the firearms. He also requested members of the public to assist the police with their investigation.
