An intelligence driven operation yielded positive results when two suspects were arrested by the team comprising of Nelspruit based Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Crime Intelligence (CI), Flying Squad, K9 (Dog unit), SAHPRA, South African Revenue Services (SARS) Home Affairs and Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) on Friday, 21 June 2024 at White River for Contravening Medicine and related substance ACT 101 of 1965 and Immigration ACT 13 of 2002.

Information was received and followed up regarding a Nigerian National suspected to be dealing in drugs and also practicing as an illegal Optometrist in White River.

The search and seizure warrant was authorised and executed on Friday during disruptive operation at the place of the suspect.

During the search a firearm, 4 rounds and magazine were found and seized from the suspect’s car. A laboratory used to manufacture spectacles were found at his workplace. LCRC services required and summoned to capture the exhibits. The suspect and his friend, aged 42 and 44, were arrested, both of them failed to produce passports.

The duo was charged and detained pending their first court appearance at White River Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 June 2024.

All exhibits were seized and registered at SAPS 13 register. The firearm will be send to ballistic for confirmation as the suspect claimed that it’s a blow gun. Investigation continues.
