Two suspects arrested in connection with hijacking of a bakkie

Two suspects were arrested on Saturday, 25 January 2025. After receiving some valuable information at about 21:30 regarding a White Toyota Hilux that was hijacked at Vosman near Witbank, members from a tracking company shared the details of its whereabouts with the Police. A swift response by members from Middelburg Flying Squad Unit led to the vehicle being located and found on the N12 off- ramp. A suspect (48) was found in possession of the said vehicle hence his arrest. He was also charged for possession of suspected hijacked vehicle and there was another 40-year-old suspect who was driving a Silver Toyota Corolla that was nabbed and it is suspected that he was escorting the hijacked vehicle. This particular suspect is a Mozambican national though he was found in possession of a valid passport.

Both suspects are expected to appear at the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 January 2025

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has expressed his gratitude to the collaborative efforts displayed by all law enforcement agencies that were involved and for their swift response that led to the recovery of the vehicle.
