Members of the South African Police Service in Tonga are looking for two unknown men who shot and killed an 81 year old elderly woman at a tribal authority residence, in the early hours of 4 February 2018.

According to information at police disposal, the woman who was the lnkosi’s (Chief’s) aunt was shot dead at the Mawewe Tribal Authority residential house, at Mgobodi while sleeping with three other people in the house.

It is alleged that the duo broke a window in one of the bedrooms and gained entry into the house. Gunshots were heard at which point the Chief then summoned the police who responded with paramedics within a short space of time.

However on their arrival, the victim was found already with gunshot wounds to the upper body and was certified dead by paramedics at the scene.

Police have opened a murder docket for investigation and are currently establishing the whereabouts of the two suspects or anyone who might be involved in this cold blooded murder.

An earnest appeal is hereby advanced to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact Colonel Alex Mahlahlani on 082 318 9865 or the SAPS Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
