A 16 year old boy has been arrested in Dullstroom on Sunday, 02 February 2020, at about 15:30, following the murder of his 63 year old grandfather.
According to the information, the teenager had a heated argument with his grandfather to a point where he allegedly went to his grandfather’s room, grabbed a pallet gun, came back and allegedly shot the old man with it. The pensioner fell down motionless.
A member of the public notified police about the incident. Police and Paramedics quickly rushed to the scene where the old man was unfortunately declared dead by the medical personnel.
Preliminary investigation unearthed that the man had gunshot wound in his upper body and the boy was immediately charged for the old man’s murder. The firearm has been taken in for ballistic test. The police are working together with Probation Officers in this case and the case docket will be handed over to the Director of Public Prosecution for a decision.
The teenager is expected to appear in Court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has indicated that the law must take its course.
