Taxi boss and his two bodyguards fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting in Delmas

Three people were fatally shot, including a man (34) within the leadership of a taxi industry as well as two of his body guards. The three were sadly killed in what is believed to be a drive-by-shooting at Rakwena Street, Botleng in Delmas last night, Saturday 27 January 2024. During the incident, a female victim was also shot but lived to tell the tale. She was then taken to hospital after sustaining some injuries.

According to information, the said man was driving in his car and being escorted by his bodyguards when armed suspects emerged from a vehicle which was driving on the opposite direction. It is further said that the suspects began to open fire on the two vehicles, fatally wounding the said man as well as his bodyguards.

The motive for the shooting is yet to be established pending investigations. A team of investigators has already been assembled under the leadership of the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, to establish the motive and to arrest those behind the bloody murder. The General also vehemently condemned the incident.
