Suspect nabbed with firearm, jammer, traffic officer uniforms, Leandra

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has expressed her appreciation on the efforts and commitment to fight crime by the Secunda Flying Squad after arresting one suspect on 4 June 2022.

According to our information, members of the Secunda Flying Squad members were patrolling on the R29 near Leandra when they came across a suspicious Toyota Corolla vehicle.

Their instincts proved to be correct when they stopped the vehicle and two of its occupants fled.

The members searched the vehicle and found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, jammer, traffic officer uniforms, false number plates and blue lights in the vehicle.

One suspect (driver), 32-year-old was immediately arrested and will appear before Leslie Periodical Court on Monday 6 June, 2022 facing charges of impersonation, Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and Possession of suspected stolen property.

The firearm has been taken for ballistic testing and the vehicle for verification to find out if they were not used in the commission of any crime.

The Provincial Commissioner has applauded the members for their commitment and alertness.
