The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded members of the police at Delmas for their vigilance. The appreciation by the General comes after members attended an accident scene involving three cars at Ruth Mompati Street in Delmas in the evening of Sunday, 20 March 2022 where they made a discovery that one of the vehicles was in fact reported stolen.

Reports indicate that police at Delmas were alerted about the said accident where upon their arrival at the scene, they noticed something sinister on one of the three cars, a grey Mazda.

Though no injuries were reported during the said accident, members realised that the vehicle’s disc did not correspond with its number plates. On further check by the astute members, it was discovered that the man was actually driving a car that was reportedly stolen at Balfour in June 2021.

The driver of the car was then arrested and charged accordingly.

He is expected to have his first court appearance at the Delmas Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 22 March 2022 facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela further indicated that she feels proud to be working with members that shows diligence and commitment to their work. “The members displayed the characters of true police officers who execute their duties with excellence” said the General.
