Police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for a suspect who absconded during a farm attack incident that took place on 2 September 2020. The incident happened at Sundra near Delmas where one suspect was shot dead.

According to information, three armed men went to a farm and forcefully entered the premises. These men then proceeded to the house and found the security gate locked, the owners then heard the noise and a shootout ensued. A police officer living nearby heard the gunshots and called for backup.

Members of the civilian neighborhood watch group also got involved and spotted the suspects where a shootout ensued. One suspect was shot and killed meanwhile another one was apprehended though sustained gunshot wounds. Two firearms, with serial numbers filed off loaded with ammunition were seized.

The third suspect evaded arrest hence the manhunt.

Police opened a case of attempted house robbery, murder, attempted murder as well as unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The 30-year-old suspect was taken to hospital just after his arrest where he is under police guard and he is expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 4 September 2020.
