The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma warns people to be alert of a scam that has surfaced in the province, where unsuspecting people are conned of their hard earned cash.

General Zuma’s warning comes after some incidents were reported, whereby criminals call complainants or victims of stolen or robbed property like vehicles pretending to be police officers and tell complainants that their property have been found, but handing over these property to the complainants might take a long time.

In order to fast track the process, these lawbreakers request a certain fee from the complainants and promise to give them their property within a day or two after payment of the stipulated amount.

However, after receiving payment, these criminals just vanish and their phones suddenly go off.

He further warned these criminals to stop conning people of their belongings, because the net will soon close on them.
