#StokvelClub robbed when sharing their yearly contributions
Farmer beaten during attack – Western Cape

On Saterday on 03 December 2016, at around 16h15, members of a local #StokvelClub were gathered at a house in extension 6 at Mashishing near Lydenburg to share their money that they have been contributing throughout the year.

While they were busy with their meeting, they saw a grey Mercedes Benz sedan stopping at the gate, with four occupants. Two of them alighted the vehicle and went straight to the table holding firearms in their hands. They reportedly robbed the victims of an undisclosed amount of cash and two handbags.

The suspects then fled the scene using the same vehicle which was later found abandoned at the Thaba Chweu Municipality flats in Mashishing. Police are making an earnest appeal to the community for any person with information to contact Sergeant Phadima Maile at 073 415 5441 or the SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

Police management in the province would like to request members of #StokvelClubs and other social groupings to refrain from handling and sharing large amounts of cash at various places. Sharing large amounts of cash among members has the potential of putting individual members at risk even when they are going home from the stokvel.
