A security guard was murdered on the morning of 20 August 2022, in Old Coronation informal settlement near Witbank. Police are on the lookout for three suspects who reportedly shot and stabbed the security guard.
According to information, a 57-year-old guard and his colleague were on their way to work when they were attacked by three armed suspects at about 05:30.
It is alleged that one suspect was carrying a firearm and the second one was carrying a knife whilst the third suspect started searching the victims and took their cell phones as well as cash of R500.
One of the guards tried to fight back but was unfortunately shot and stabbed multiple times with a knife.
Emergency services were summoned to the scene, however, the victim was certified dead by the paramedics at the scene. Meanwhile the police opened a case of robbery with an additional charge of murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned the senseless killing of the security guard and ordered for the swift arrest of the suspects.
