A case of kidnapping has been registered at Middleburg following the alleged kidnapping of Nkangala District Municipality Manager and her driver on Thursday 20 October 2022.

According to information, it is alleged that the victims were attacked at the municipality premises gate before they could enter.

Reports at police disposal indicates that the victims were stopped by suspects in a white sedan wearing police uniform.

Both vehicles were seen driving to the same direction following each other.

Immediately after the incident was reported, police launched an investigation and the victim’s vehicle was recovered abandoned in one of the surrounding mines.

The wheelchair and other properties believed to be belonging to the victims were also recovered in the abandoned vehicle, with no sight of the victims.

No arrest was made so far.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela condemned such a violent crime and promised to leave no stone unturned to save the kidnapped victims’ lives.
