Robbery: Bank ‘follow home’ suspect in court, Nelspruit

A 37 year old man, Lucky Ndlovu, appeared at the Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court on 10 January 2019, on a charge of robbery. Ndlovu’s appearance follows swift action by police, who arrested him on Tuesday 8 January 2019, at Kanyamazane Shopping Centre during a crime intelligence driven operation.

It is alleged that he was part of a group of suspects who robbed a man of a large sum of cash on 7 November 2018 and has been evading the police ever since.

On the day in question, the suspects apparently followed the victim from the bank to the parking area of an eating venue in Nelspruit where they then carried out the robbery and fled in a white VW Polo. The vehicle has since been traced and confiscated, it was linked through investigation to two other cases which occurred in Malelane and Nelspruit respectively.

During the appearance he was remanded in custody, for further investigation and will appear at the same court on 18 January 2019. Police are in pursuit of the outstanding suspects and therefore urge anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Erhard Stroh on 082 464 5721 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, appealed to members of the community to be more vigilant when withdrawing money, either from the bank or at Automated Teller Machines (ATM’s).
