R4.1 million fraud, Nelspruit pharmacist sentenced to 6 years

A former pharmacist and the Director of Wisamed Pharmacy, Wisani Ngobeni (50) was found guilty and sentenced by the Nelspruit Regional Court on Friday 18 September 2020, to 6 years imprisonment wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted for fraud during the period of suspension.

In March 2015, the accused who was the director of Wisamed Pharmacy submitted fraudulent claims to Gemsa medical aid scheme prejudiced Gemsa of R4.1million.

The accused was arrested by members of the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Nelspruit.
