Police in Mpumalanga have made a major breakthrough when three suspects aged between 33 and 44 were busted with 100 kilograms of dagga estimated at about R150 000-00 in street value at Mangweni next to Tonga on 30 August 2022.

The suspects, two females and one male were nabbed after Tonga SAPS members were conducting stop and search operation whereby they stopped a minibus and discovered that the kombi was loaded with nine bags of compressed dagga.

All suspects believed to be from Block B, are expected to make their first appearance at Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on 31 August 2022, facing dealing in drugs charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela welcomed the arrest and sent a stern warning that drug peddling will never be tolerated in the province. “We will make sure that we intercept any drug trafficking activities in the province” said the General.
