Nkosinathi Zungu (40) was found guilty and sentenced by the Barberton Magistrate`s Court on Wednesday, 14 September 2022 for dealing in drugs.

The sentence came after the accused was arrested by Mpumalanga Tactical Response Team on 1 September 2022 while driving a Nissan Hardbody loaded with dagga valued at approximately R1 million.

A total of R46 200-00 in cash was also found and confiscated for further investigation.

Zungu was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment which is holly suspended for five years and R50 000-00(fifty thousand rand) or six years imprisonment.

The case was referred to Priority Crime Specialised Investigation which are looking into the cash and the Nissan bakkie which were seized during the arrest.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Zodwa Mokoena appreciated the investigating officer for speedy finalization of the case. She further applauded the collaboration between the Hawks and TRT who are always on the street.
