Members of the South African Police Service attached to the Lebombo Port of Entry at Komatipoort, seized illicit goods to the estimated value of R1.5 Million. The truck which was coming from Mozambique en-route to Gauteng was loaded with 2 609 pairs of counterfeit sneakers and sandals.

The driver somehow managed to flee the scene while police were attending to the truck. The loot was handed over to SARS Customs Officials.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma applauded the members of the South African Police Service for their hard work and astuteness. “The confiscation of illicit goods of this magnitude is a clear indication of criminals’ intention to undermine the authority of the state, equally, members of the SAPS have resolved to nip any kind of crime in the bud”, said the Provincial Commissioner.
