Farmer shot during attack – Rustenburg

The police have launched a massive manhunt after a cash in transit heist took place at around 12:30 yesterday, just outside Elukwatini.

It is alleged that a Cash-in-Transit vehicle was on its way to Lochiel from Elukwatini CBD when it was deliberately bumped from behind by a gold Mercedes Benz sedan forcing it to overturn in the middle of the road. Suddenly, a hailstorm of bullets were fired towards the Cash-in-Transit vehicle and two occupants were left seriously wounded, unfortunately the driver was fatally shot.

Before the suspects could flee the scene, two local traffic officials emerged unaware of the incident which had just took place. The suspects immediately opened fire towards them as well and both officials were injured too. The notorious villains then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The traffic officials as well as the injured security guards were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

No one has been arrested regarding this heist and a probe is underway. Police urge any person with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Beauty Marivate 082 822 8357 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
