The South African Police Service management in Mpumalanga lauds the determination and hard work displayed by the men and women in blue, during the execution of an intelligence driven sting operation as well as Operation Lock Down on 25 October 2018. Both operations yielded positive results respectively.

The intelligence driven sting operation was carried out at Witbank following a tip off regarding a person who kept drugs at a public storage. Upon arrival at the identified place, police conducted a search which led to the discovery of the drugs. He was then arrested with the drugs, Crystal Meth, CAT, Ecstasy tablets and dagga worth an estimated street value of about R300 000, as well as cash and a vehicle being seized.

The suspect, Chijioke Livinus Emejjulu aged 43, appeared at the Witbank Magistrate’s Court today, facing a charge of possession and dealing in drugs. Emejjulu was remanded in custody until Friday, 2 November 2018, pending a formal bail application.

Meanwhile Operation Lock Down which was conducted at Vosman near Witbank, saw 17 suspects aged between 23 and 46, being arrested. Amongst the arrested, are fourteen people who were wanted for previous cases, two for selling liquor without a licence as well as another for possession of narcotic drugs.

The police further discovered a truck, horse and double trailers, while patrolling at Clewer in Vosman, which appeared to have been hijacked at Bronkhorstspruit. All the arrested suspects are expected to appear at the Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

The management also appreciate community members for their involvement in the fight against crime. If it was not for them, some of this successes could not have been achieved.
