One dead, two injured after cash-in-transit heist in Middelburg

A man believed to be in his 40s sustained fatal injuries and two others were injured following an apparent cash-in-transit heist at a filling station in Middelburg, Mpumalanga yesterday afternoon.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 14H00, they found a man in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. He was found to be in a critical condition.

Paramedics immediately initiated advanced life support interventions before transporting him to hospital for further medical care.

Unfortunately, shortly afterwards the man had succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

It is believed that the man was busy filling up his vehicle when he was shot.

A woman and her child had also sustained gunshot wounds to the legs. It is understood that they were transported to hospital privately before ER24’s arrival at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but police were on the scene for further investigations.
