Police in Carolina, are investigating the mysterious death of an elderly couple, Martin Marias De Bruin (83) and his wife, Marriam Magdeline De Bruin (79) whose lifeless bodies were found in their farm home near Carolina on 28 September 2022.

On the said day at about 22:00, police and Emergency Medical Service personnel were alerted about the ordeal after a neighbouring farmer reportedly contacted the couple telephonically without success. He became suspicious and then decided to check them.

According to the neighbour, upon his arrival everything looked normal until he peeped through their bedroom window and saw his neighbours lying in a pool of blood on their couch.

Mr. De Bruin had a visible a gunshot wound in his head with a firearm in his hands whilst Mrs. De Bruin sustained visible gunshot wounds on her chest and ear. The duo were unfortunately certified dead on the scene.

The circumstances surrounding their death are being probed by a team of investigators.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has condemned the incident and indicated that the investigation will reveal the truth of what had transpired.
