It seems that not only the head of state, Jacob Zuma, is fighting for survival beyond prison after politics. The premier in the former East Transvaal, David Mabuza, is struggling with the same fate.

It is alleged that he disposes of whistle blowers in the province who want to uncover illegal acts such as theft, fraud, and corruption. Several of them have already been attacked. Mabuza is linked to those attacks, and this could put him in jail.

This is apparently the reason why he is linked to blackmail to give his support to Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the Jacob Zuma successor, while it appeared that he previously gave support to Ramaphosa.
