Ralina Julio Cau (43) was remanded in custody by the Kriel Magistrate Court after she was intercepted at Komatipoort Lebombo Port of Entry while she was trying to cross the border from South Africa to Mozambique.

The accused person was one of the three accused who were arrested on 15 March 2018 at Kriel while they were transporting Counterfeit goods (shoes) from Mozambique to South Africa destined to Johannesburg.

The trio were remanded in custody until the 10 April 2018, when they were granted bail of R3000 each. After their release, they attended court few times and they never came back to court. Warrant of their arrest was authorized by the Kriel Magistrate Court on 8 October 2018 and all the three accused were circulated on the system as wanted suspects.

On the 30 June 2022 while the accused was trying to cross the border from South Africa to Mozambique, the system intercepted her showing that she was sought as per Kriel case. Arrangements were for her to appear in the Kriel Magistrate Court where she was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 11 July 2022.

The Hawks’ Provincial Head, Major General Zodwa Mokoena commended the vigilance of personnel who intercepted her and appreciated the collaboration between the investigators and members from Port of Entry. She urged the two accused who are still outstanding to hand themselves to the police as there is no hiding place for criminals, she concluded.
