MEC Macie visits the two R42 horrific crash victims' families in Botleng

Following the horrific crash that claimed at least 11 lives on Monday morning on R42 Road near Delmas, the MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr Jackie Macie, visited two families of the victims yesterday (26 June 2024).

Of the 11 people who were killed in the crash, nine are Mozambican nationals, while two of the deceased are South Africans; hence, the MEC only visited two families.

Macie first went to the crash scene before proceeding to Victor Khanye local Municipality, where a briefing was done before proceeding to visit the families.

He was accompanied by Victor Khanye Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Vusi Buda, the speaker and other stakeholders.

During the briefing, the MEC heard that the spot where crash happened is a common spot for hijackings at night. He was also told that crime was on the increase in the municipality.

He was further updated on the status of those who were at the hospital and those who were transferred to other hospitals…
