A 37-year-old man appeared at the Masoyi Periodical Court today on charges of robbery with a weapon other than a firearm. Themba Makamu was arrested by police at Masoyi on 22 February 2022.

According to the information, the suspect and an accomplice, who is still at large allegedly robbed a man who was walking home from work. It is reported that the man noticed the two following him prompting him to run however, the suspects chased him and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash at knifepoint.

The suspects fled on foot.

The man reported the matter to the police who opened a case and launched a search for the suspects. The police managed to trace the suspects and arrested one at Mahushu while the other managed to evade the arrest.

During his court appearance, the matter was postponed to 2 March 2022 for a formal bail application and for further investigation. Makamu was remanded in custody.
