
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent house robbery and attempted rape that occurred at Majembeni Trust in the Bushbuckridge area. The suspect was apprehended on 27 May 2025 after a detailed police investigation.
The incident took place on 25 May 2025 at approximately 13:30, when two suspects arrived at the home of a 58-year-old woman under the pretense of searching for her son. The suspects allegedly forced their way into the house by breaking down the door.
Once inside, they demanded money from the victim. When she told them she had none, they reportedly assaulted her and threatened her with a knife. One of the suspects then attempted to rape her but was stopped by his accomplice. The assailants then subjected the victim to further brutality, inserting a knife into her private body parts and cutting her before stealing her cellphone and fleeing the scene.
The victim was able to identify one of the suspects, which significantly aided the police investigation. The arrested suspect is scheduled to appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on 29 May 2025, where he will face charges of house robbery and attempted rape.
