The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has praised SAPS VISPOL members from Bushbuckridge for their vigilance which led them to recover a suspected stolen vehicle at a certain house near Collegeview Trust in Bushbuckridge.
The recovery was made on Monday, 11 April 2022 at around 15:00.
It is said that the members were busy patrolling whilst making their presence felt on the streets as the Easter holidays draw nearer. They then spotted a suspicious white BMW sedan parked in a certain yard. The members reportedly entered the premises however, the owner was not around at the time.
On closer inspection of the vehicle, it was discovered that it was fitted with false registration number plates.
Further information obtained by the police revealed that the vehicle was in fact stolen during a robbery in August 2021 at Mamelodi (Gauteng).
In addition, the members found an engine of a Toyota Corolla on the same premises, though the serial numbers thereof were somehow tampered with. Both, the recovered vehicle as well as the engine were confiscated immediately.
Police investigation still continues into the case and hopefully an arrest will be made soon.
Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga further emphasised that the calibre displayed by the members indicates that the community are policed by well dedicated members. “We hope that the public can understand through this incident that members are there to diligently serve them and will leave no stone unturned” said the General.
