Judith Nyantumba (57), was convicted and sentenced to ten years direct imprisonment by the Carolina Regional Court on Thursday 18 July 2019 for trafficking in persons.

In May 2018 Nyantumba smuggled a six year old boy from Mozambique to South Africa and later exploited him to work for her without payment.

The Hawks` Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit took over the case immediately after it was reported and ensured that the suspect was brought to book.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate For Priority Crime Investigation Major General Zodwa Mokoena applauded the investigating team together with the prosecuting team for ensuring that the matter was finalised speedily.

She further urged the public to report such incidents whereby young children are exploited.
