Another rape incident involves a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her 14-year-old cousin on 29 July 2020. Police were told that the suspect tied the victim with a rope and covered her mouth with a cloth then raped her.
This incident which is under investigation, was uncovered by the mother of the victim when she returned from work then alerted police.
Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has commended police for the arrest. He has also raised his concern regarding lack of morals by some men, who continue perpetuating abominable and vicious acts of sexual assault against minors and women.
