Fraud and corruption: Master of the high court arrested, Nelspruit

It is somewhat comforting to know that a dishonest and corrupt official of the Nelspruit High Court in Mpumalanga has been arrested, but the FF Plus also insists on answers as to the cost of the new built courthouse.

A visit to the newly built High Court in Nelspruit on Friday by President Cyril Ramaphosa and Ministers Lamola and De Lille was marred by the arrest and court appearance of the master of the court, Adv. Bina Masuku, on charges of fraud and corruption.

The FF Plus welcomes the action against Adv. Masuku as this incident seriously jeopardizes the integrity of the court and once again highlights the high levels of corruption in government institutions.

As for answers to the cost of the still unfinished project, it is documented to already exceed R1 billion after the initial tender price was only around R600 million and understands that some land must still be acquired to make an entrance way to the courts.

The FF Plus will ask questions about this increase in building costs to the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia de Lille.

It is unacceptable for the FF Plus that taxpayers’ money is wasted in this way and the entities involved for the over expenditure must be held accountable.
