Farmer survives as attackers gun repeatedly jams, Middleburg

A farm attack took place on Saturday morning 2 November 2019, on the farm Groenfontein, in Middleburg, Mpumalanga province. Leon Bester was lucky to survive. Around 05:00 a couple on the farm were alerted to a trespasser by barking dogs, when Bester went to investigate, by driving in the direction of the man, he was attacked through his bakkie window. A fight for survival had begun.

During the fight, Bester moved a meter away from the attacker, it was then that the man produce a firearm, cocked it and fired at point blank range. The firearm jammed and the attacker continued pulling the trigger but the gun did not go off. The attacker then fled on foot.

Betser suffered minor injuries from the tussle with the attacker but was fortunate to survive.
