The 23 year old farm worker that attacked and severely assaulted Dries Schoeman (70)and his wife Mariaan (68) with a piece of angle iron on 21 June 2017 on their farm Skoongezicht outside Machadodorp, Mpumalanga, admitted to the brutal murder of Dries. Mariaan who was also viciously attacked and suffered serious injuries and bleeding on the brain, survived the attack.
Mariaan arrived home at 16:00 and was attacked by four men, she was beaten with a sharp object, she was the tied up with wire. When Dries arrives approximately an hour later he found his wife covered in blood and when he was attempting to untie her, he too was attacked by the men from behind.
Dries was badly beaten with angle iron and suffered severe head wounds. He too was tied up and the couple were then dragged into the bushes and left there. Mariaan managed to free herself the following morning and summoned help.
Dries died two weeks later in hospital from the heinous assault.
Monica Nyuswa, a police spokesperson, told Maroela media that Arcolane Doce admitted guilt on all the charges against him in the Nelspruit high court.He pleaded guilty to a charge of murder, a charge of attempted murder, two charges of kidnapping, two charges of robbery with aggravating circumstance and a charge of theft.
Doce is a mozambican who previously worked for the couple. He was arrested a few days later.
