A farm murder took place on 19 October 2020, at 02:20, on a smallholding in the Plaston area in White River, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Gerrit Stander (38), a well known lawyer in the area, was shot three times and sadly passed away later in hospital. An unknown number of attackers cut the electric fence to gain access to the property and then broke the door and security gate and entered the home.
A barking dog alerted Stander who went to investigate and was he attacked. During the struggle he was shot three times. His younger brother, Christiaan, rushed him to a private hospital.
The attackers fled the scene with a TV, cell phones and a laptop. All role players responded but there have been no arrests. The police are investigating the attack.
