A farm murder took place early on the morning of 30 July 2023, on a farm in the Grootvlei area, South of Balfour, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.
Theo Bekker was opening up when he was overpowered by four attackers, two of which are workers on the farm.
Mr. Bekker was violently assaulted and stabbed multiple times.
The attackers then entered the farm house where they attacked his wife Marlinda.
She was severely assaulted by the four resulting in severe injuries.
The home was ransacked and the attackers then fled with four firearms in Marlinda’s vehicle.
Just outside of Villiers, the attackers lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
At the accident scene all four were arrested and the firearms recovered.
In the interim, Marlinda managed to make her way to the neighbours for assistance. She was then evacuated to hospital.
After the alarm was raised all role players, including local farmers responded. They discovered the body of Theo Bekker.
The attackers will appear in Villiers court for possession of the stolen firearms and stolen vehicle and will then be transferred to Balfour court to face the murder charge.
