A farm attack took place on 23 November 2022, at 09:45, on Peel farm, on the old Belfast road in Middleburg, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

A group of attackers arrived at the farm in a vehicle under the pretence of buying pigs.

Two of the attackers were taken by a farm worker to the farmer.

The farmer, Johan Pretorius, was discussing the sale at the farmhouse with the two when one of them produced a firearm and and fired a shot. No one was injured.

The attackers then demanded cash and access to the safe.

The nearby farm workers responded to assist the farmer causing the two to flee whilst the others in the vehicle sped away.

The farm workers pursued and arrested both attackers and recovered a firearm.

There were no injuries.

Police are investigating.
