Farm attack, panga wielding attackers tie up couple, ransack home, Barberton

A farm attack took place on Tuesday 18 October 2022, at 11:00, on the farm Roslyn, in the Queen’s River area, East of of Barberton, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

Four attackers, one armed with a panga and one with a knife held up a couple Mr. and Mrs. Sofionos at their farm.

The couple was assaulted and tied up.

The home was then ransacked and a number of items, including a .357 revolver en n .303 rifle and ammunition was robbed.

After the alarm was raised a swift operation led the police to a nearby compound where a number of household items, including a TV, meat, cash, electric items and bags of loose goods were recovered.

The police managed to arrest two attackers and also recovered the stolen .357 revolver.

Ongoing operations for the other attackers and stolen .303 are still underway.
