A farm attack took place on Monday 24 May 2021, at 13:00, on a smallholding in Naauwpoort, South of Witbank, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. A man, Dionne van Rensburg (69) was overpowered and assaulted by four attackers who beat and strangled him whilst demanding money and firearms.

The attackers forced the man to open the safe and stole three hunting rifles, two pellet guns, ammunition and cash.

The home and workshop was also ransacked and numerous items, including a welder, generator and tools were loaded onto the man’s double cab bakkie that the attackers fled in.

The vehicle was later found abandoned.

The value of the stolen equipment alone is in excess of R200k. Dionne van Rensburg said that he was seriously brutalised by the attackers and that he is lucky to be alive.

Police are investigating but there have been no arrests.
