A farm attack took place on 2 August 2022, at 02:00, on a farm along the Loskop road, approximately 22 km outside Middelburg near Elandslaagte in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.
Four balaclava clad attackers, of which at least two were armed with firearms, gained entrance through a closed window that had no burglar guards. The dogs that were outside were all poisoned.
The farmer (76) and a female family relative (68) were attacked in their beds, assaulted and tied up with cable ties and rope. At the time of the attack the farmers wife was away visiting family.
The attackers were demanding firearms and money.
The farmer managed to free himself and walk to his son’s house, which is on the same farm, for assistance. The victims were not seriously injured but have been severely traumatised.
All role players responded but there have been no arrests.
The attackers then fled the scene with cell phones, money and valuables. No firearms were robbed.
