Farm attack, attackers threaten to slit elderly woman's throat, Roossenekal

A farm attack took place on Monday 14 November 2022 at about 10:00 in the Roossenekal district near Middelburg, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

Mrs. Martie Richards was attacked inside the farm house by a number of black male attackers. This happened shortly after her son had left the farm.

The attackers demanded money and Mrs. Richard’s bank details.

The home was ransacked and the attackers threatened to slit her throat if she does not do as they demand.

After the attackers fled the scene, Mrs. Richards called for help.

The Police also responded but no arrest have been made.

Mrs. Richards was not seriously injured but she was left severely traumatised.

This attack follows after the brutal attack on Mrs. Sannie Luus (80) and her brother Gert Joubert (66) on the Groot Rietvlei farm in the Middelburg area in October of this year.

That attack was carried out by three Mozambican males who arrived on the farm shortly before and were given employment and shelter on the farm.
The brother and sister were both hacked with pangas.

Mr. Joubert died a few days later in hospital due to head injuries sustained in the attack.
