Crime Intelligent Driven Operation produced positive results when substances believed to be narcotics and unlicenced firearms with ammunition were recovered, leading to the arrest of four suspects in Delmas on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

A multidisciplinary operation comprised of National Police Crime Intelligence, Delmas SAPS, Middleburg K9 Unit and members from the neighborhood watch assembled.

They then engaged in a fact finding mission about illicit activities alleged to be conducted in the Delmas area.

Three different residential addresses were visited during this operation.

A 54-year-old suspect was arrested after being found with unlicensed firearm with its serial numbers filed off.

The team proceeded to another house where 32 pieces suspected rock cocaine, 18 pinches of suspected heroin, two plastic bags filled with dagga and undisclosed amount of cash were recovered leading to the arrest of a 56-year-old suspect.

On a final roundup search, two live ammunition (for a 9mm pistol) were found concealed under the mattress.

The team concluded their operation in a high note by arresting two Zimbabwean nationals aged 49 and 51 for possession of suspected stolen properties. Three drums of 210 litres of oil as well as three 20 litres of plastic containers filled with diesel worth about R30 000 were recovered.

The suspects could not produce proof of purchase hence they were apprehended and charged accordingly. The Police are working in conjunction with officials from Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the two suspects in the country. Additional charges for contravention of the Immigration Act may be laid against them as the investigation continues.

All arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 31 May 2023.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela praised the team for their diligence thereby removing deadly weapons from the wrong hands and for the recovery of suspected stolen diesel.
