Two foreign nationals from the kingdom of Eswatini, aged 31 and 32 were arrested by members of the SAPS from Border Policing in Oshoek on two separate incidents after they were reportedly found with dagga to the total estimated street value of about more than R30 000.

One was nabbed in the early hours of Saturday 11 March 2023 around 03:12, whilst another was apprehended on Friday, 10 March 2023 around 18:53.

According to the information, on 10 March 2023, police were busy with their routine patrol duties and searched a man from the kingdom of Eswatini who was at a hitch-hiking spot next to the Port of Entry in Oshoek. That was when they discovered that he was in possession of dagga weighing at 5,8 kilograms with an estimated street value of R24,360-00.

The 31-year-old man was then arrested and charged for dealing in dagga.

On Saturday morning, 11 March 2023 another man from the kingdom of Eswatini came to the Oshoek Port of Entry, driving in a black VW Golf with registration number plates from his country. The said vehicle was searched on the arrival side. That was when a black refuse bag stashed with dagga weighing at about 2,2 kilograms and with an estimated street value of R9240-00 was found hidden on the bonnet of the car.

He too was locked up and charged for dealing in dagga. The car was confiscated for further investigation.

The two suspects are expected to separately appear in the Chief Albert Luthuli on Monday, 13 March 2023 facing the said charges.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi has praised members from Border Policing for their diligence and hardwork in addressing crime in-and-around the borders of the neighbouring countries.
