The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga, Major General Frans Mashika extends his heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the Management and workforce of the SAPS to the family of the late Constable Jane Thandi Ntuli, attached to the Delmas Police Station, who passed away on the morning of 12 May 2019.
Ntuli, 36, who was eight months pregnant, was driving home from work on Saturday evening 11 May 2019, on the R42 Bronkhorstspruit road when an unknown vehicle struck her vehicle at the back after the driver apparently skipped a stop sign.
She was airlifted to hospital with what seemed like life-threatening injuries immediately after the crash. Doctors managed to deliver the baby on Saturday evening but sadly, Ntuli succumbed to her injuries yesterday morning.
The matter is currently under investigation and a case of culpable homicide has been opened.
Major General Mashika has indicated that Constable Ntuli’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, the police as well as the community which she served. He also strongly urges drivers to always adhere to the rules of the road to prevent unnecessary loss of life on the roads.
